IMO the Tiagra FD is probably the most versatile road derailleur. the frame is strong, my only complain is the Suzue hubs, the cones are prone to pitting. The effective top tube length of 56cm makes for a Goldilocks ride position: just about right, neither too short nor too long. The lowest gear is 29 gear inches, which may not be low enough for loaded touring.
