We'd visit here again as a stop over point if needed, but wouldn't seek it out as a destination for a longer stay.

We picked a site along the lake- the water was very high as there as been a lot of flooding in all the lakes. Crooked River Campground offers Old Florida-style camping at its best. This is a great waterfront site literally 20 steps from the shores of Lake Michigan. Overlanding is a way to see less-explored areas of the world.

Hand pump for.water, the vault toilets would be the only down fall, need updating. This is a small, bare-bones state park that makes up for the lack of available amenities with campsites that provide views of Lake Michigan, are wooded enough to be private, and don't cost very much. Help the community if you have a paddling trip to share! There is a fresh water well pump on site. Sites had a large picnic table & fire ring as shown in the photos.

Campsite with water is available near the river for campers arriving by canoe. The trailhead has a parking area for equestrians. Many day-use facilities are available on Withlacoochee State Forest for picnicking and wildlife viewing. Please suggest a correction. The sites are very private and there is a good variety. From I-75, take Exit 309 to C-476. Nice pull through site. Campsites spread out under the open shade of large oak trees.
The campground is on the water side of Rt 2, between mile marker 285 and 286. They are rustic but the locations are incredible. Camped night of 7/7/17. Compare and book now! The sites on this side were a lot roomier and the road was easier to maneuver around. Nice sites, some lakeside, some in wooded areas, most had grass & were mowed.
